Charlotte County Residents Urged to Attend Meeting with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) to Discuss Hurricane Ian Recovery and Community Needs

Charlotte County residents are urged to participate in a crucial meeting hosted by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) to voice their needs and aspirations for the post-hurricane recovery efforts.

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) announced it will host a series of public workshops to hear directly from Floridians about their unmet disaster recovery needs following Hurricane Ian, providing an overview of the CDBG-DR program and upcoming State of Florida Action Plan that will detail how this funding will address unmet recovery and mitigation needs, and offering impacted Floridians an opportunity to provide their input.

During the meeting, participants will have the chance to express their concerns, share personal experiences, and propose innovative ideas to enhance the effectiveness of the ongoing recovery efforts. The input received from community members will directly inform decision-making processes and help allocate resources to areas most in need.

All concerned citizens, homeowners, business owners, community organizations, and individuals passionate about the future of our community are strongly urged to attend the DEO meeting. Together, we can ensure that no voice is left unheard and that our collective vision for a resilient and thriving community is realized.

This recognition, known as a “best in show” award, represents achievement across the state’s economic development cities and counties.

“To be judged by our peers in economic development and come away with this award is a tremendous recognition of the job countywide that was done on behalf of all our businesses in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. It is an honor that reflects well on every department that helped make Charlotte County’s recovery efforts as quickly and efficiently as possible,” stated Kay Tracy, Business Recruitment Manager of Charlotte County’s Economic Development team.
